As part of the Salerno-Potenza-Bari corridor upgrade, DIAMONDS carried out surveys and inspections on the Fiumara di Tito Viaduct, which is approximately 1,100 m long and comprises two parallel decks with 23 spans each. he structure features pre-stressed, post-tensioned reinforced concrete I-section beams supported on Gerber bearings. Most spans rest directly on single-shaft piers, while others are supported on approximately 15-metre-long post-tensioned reinforced concrete cantilevers.
The activities carried out included:
- Close-range and remote visual inspections using drone technology;
- High-precision geometric surveys with laser scanner and drone;
- Mechanical characterisation of materials and survey of construction details;
- Specialised inspections of pre-stressed concrete cables and evaluation of residual tension in the pre-stressed cables.
